• 1978 - IDS Direct began work as an engineering company in the agricultural and dairy farming industry. IDS Direct received a US Patent for using Passive Radio Frequency to automate the process of cattle feeding. The innovative technology regulated feed based on individual cows to maximize their milk production. IDS Direct supplied the engineering, software, hardware, and support for over 1000 systems feeding nearly 1 million cows is the US. The technology was later enhanced to provide automated detection of mastitis through electrical conductivity measurements that were made while cows were milked.
• 1980 - IDS Direct introduced software products for Contact Management and corporate book keeping & financial management.
• 1984 - IDS Direct expanded its market to industrial automation systems. This included the control of conveyor, carousels, transporters, pick modules, portable devices, scales, barcode systems etc. Over time the control systems were consolidated into full Warehouse Management Systems and Manufacturing Control Systems.
• 1986 - IDS Direct Completed Sortation systems for slat sorters and belt sorters was introduced.
• 2000 - IDS Direct began offering Industrial Engineering Services to our customers. The offering included a full line of industrial engineering services. This included CAD services, specification of equipment, simulation modeling, etc.
• 2003 - IDS Direct goes online with the "IDS Direct" online catalog and simplified ordering.
